What is People Management Skills Training?
This training is specifically designed to provide managers with the additional people-related capabilities they need to perform at a higher level.
Most managers move into leadership positions because of their technical expertise and on-the-job experience. Once in a management role, they often find themselves facing new challenges—especially when it comes to gaining cooperation from team members who may not always be easy to lead.
Many managers struggle because they haven’t been taught how to get the best from others. Some push too hard, others not enough.
This course gives managers the right interpersonal skills to bring out the best in themselves—and their teams.
Course Overview
This course is divided into four sessions.
We introduce nine essential people management skills and invite delegates to assess their own strengths and areas for improvement. We focus on: setting clear objectives, persuasive communication, explaining complex ideas, professional presence, and motivation through both encouragement and correction. We also address the right and wrong ways to use humour, ending the session with techniques for positive reinforcement.
We shift to managing conflict, underperformance, and difficult behaviour. Conflict is an unavoidable part of leadership, and how you deal with it can make or break a team. Many managers mishandle difficult situations—either being overly forceful or too hesitant. You’ll learn how to strike the right balance with assertiveness and emotional control.
Time is one of a manager’s most valuable resources. This session focuses on effective planning, task delegation, and solving problems logically. You’ll learn to move away from chaos and towards structure—bringing clarity and control to daily operations.
The final session focuses on emotional intelligence. How someone feels has a direct impact on how they perform. Managers must be emotionally intelligent—first with themselves, then with others. You’ll learn practical methods for self-regulation, helping others manage their emotions, reframing situations, and inspiring action through leadership and language.
