Problem solving is the skill of identifying root causes and applying effective solutions—or ideally, preventing issues from arising in the first place.
There are two core types of problem-solving: Analytical problem-solving, which is rooted in logical reasoning, and Creative problem-solving, which involves imaginative, innovative thinking.
This in-house training course covers both approaches. By the end of the session, delegates will feel more equipped to face challenges, spot emerging issues, and solve problems with confidence.
Learning Outcomes
Participants will be able to:
- Resolve problems more efficiently
- Anticipate and prevent potential issues
- Deconstruct complex problems into manageable parts
- Use Problem–Cause–Solution mapping
- Apply Problem–Implication–Countermeasure analysis
- Solve challenges creatively using imagination and new perspectives
- Embrace collaborative problem-solving using the Mastermind principle
We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.
Albert Einstein
Sometimes problems don’t require a solution to solve them; Instead they require maturity to outgrow them.
Steve Maraboli
Every problem is a gift. Without them we wouldn’t grow.
Tony Robbins
It isn’t that they cannot find the solution. It is that they cannot see the problem.
G.K Chesterton
Problems are nothing but wake-up calls for creativity.
Gerhard Gschwandtner
Running away from a problem only increases the distance from the solution.

Not everything that is faced can be changed. But nothing can be changed until it is faced.

Problems are not stop signs, they are guidelines.

What is Problem Solving Training?
Problem Solving training is designed to teach individuals how to uncover causes, address issues, and wherever possible, prevent them altogether working from the principle that prevention is always better than cure.
Problem-solving strategies fall into two key categories: Analytical and Creative.
Analytical thinking involves breaking complex problems down into smaller, more manageable components and solving them step-by-step. It’s methodical, evidence-based, and logical.
Creative thinking, on the other hand, is about approaching problems from fresh angles—redefining how we see the issue in order to come up with inventive and non-obvious solutions.
This course explores both methods in depth.
Problem Solving Training Course Overview
We begin the course by defining a “problem” as the gap between where you are now and where you want to be. Solving the problem means closing that gap.
The first—and often most critical—step in solving any problem is framing it correctly. Just as in medicine, an accurate diagnosis is the starting point of any successful treatment.
Next, we dive into analytical problem-solving tools, including cause-effect-solution mapping and problem-implication-countermeasure techniques. These concepts are explored through real examples and exercises.
In the afternoon, the focus shifts to creative approaches—sometimes referred to as “thinking outside the box”. This involves altering your perspective to change how a problem is perceived, opening up new, unexpected pathways to resolution. We’ll explore case studies where challenges became opportunities, and you’ll have the chance to experiment with creative thinking strategies yourself.
By the end of the course, participants will walk away with a toolbox of problem-solving methods and, just as importantly, the confidence to use them effectively.
